Will probably save you from having to winch out your rig. Have made it thru stuff that before would not have been possible with the stock limited slip. You'll learn to drive with it, after a few days its like it's not even there. Every now and then it may click, but its never violent, or loud. I've got a No-Slip in my rear axle, despite many people saying that "lunchbox" lockers are bad in the rear. The performance is great and very well mannered on the road!!! Would highly recommend!!!
I have the powertax in my 2000 XJ in the rear end its a chrysler 8.25, and it was very easy to install about 2 hours total. I look forward to Jeepers Jamboree on the Rubicon this coming summer. I left the front end open as I don't want any busted axles. I went up stuff today I wouldn't have dared try before. Not a terribly tough trail but there are a few spots that are technical. I just had a Powertrax installed last week with 3:73 gears. These have made alot of the same trails i did without them.effortless!!!! If you are like me and have to save a while before you get the nice 44's with arb lockers and all the bells and whistles. They have taken me places I have not been able to go before. Just installed these in the front and rear. I emailed them 2 weeks ago with install questions and still haven't heard back from them. My only complaint is that the Richmond Gear/Powertrax customer service is terrible. It is very quiet with minimal clicking and other noises you'd expect from a locker. It does everything you'd expect from a top quality locker and more. This locker comes with great instructions and is very easy to install. My buddy says he hates his Detroit and wants the Powertrax back! :) I can't wait to get it offroad again to see what a locker can do for me. It has increased my driveline "rubberbanding" a bit, but that was to be expected. I can feel it push and pull the vehicle around and it will steer the vehicle in a bend if you let it, but it is quiet as a mouse. I expected clicking, popping and banging like my buddy's Detroit, but I have none of that. I have about 250 miles on it so far and it has performed way better on the street than I expected it to. I did have to remove both rear wheels and drums (don't forget to release the parking brake, duh!), but that gave me a chance to wash the mud out from the back of my wheels. Of course, I installed new diff fluid, too. I did the install in my driveway and I painted my diff cover while I was at it. I put it in my D35C, per the great instructions.
It was missing some hardware, so I bought a new hardware kit from Summit for $19, comes with all new springs and check block.
I got this locker for free from a friend who put an 8.8 in his YJ. I have had great experience with it, no problems with installation, no problems in the city, great traction on the trail rock crawling. Since all that had to be done was taking out the spider gears, the ring and pinon is not disturbed, so no driveline settings are messed up. I do have a long wheel base, so that is a large contributor to it not having bad manners. I have not had any experience with Detroit Locker but the No-Slip is great with minimal bad manners. It has given me very good traction rock crawling. It locks up on the trail with excellent manners. It does clunk infrequently once in a while, and it will scrub the tires if you stay on it going around a corner. It has functioned with the utmost in everything. I chose a No-Slip PowerTrax for its cost, capability, road manners, and reliablity. I am not a jeepster but was looking for info on lockers. Here where I live that is pretty much the entire wheeling season with a useless axle. Originally expected to ship in June then August and now Sept. We ordered early May and they have pushed back estimated delivery twice now. Managed to find the correct part and order it. After inspection found small piece of power trax locker broken. Reviewer: A User from (Denver, CO)Īfter running a lok right in front for a long time I purchased a rear axle with a new powertrax installed that wasn't working. This review is the subjective opinion of a JeepReviews user and not of. I look forward top seeing this company filing bankruptcy. and I will never buy another product from such a dishonest company that puts out junk parts. The whole experience cost me over $1,200. Had to tow the Jeep back to the shop and pay them to order another one and reinstall it again. The shop installed the locker and of course it only last about 3 months before blowing up. The first locker that these uneducated idiots shipped out was broken from them. Had a local shop recommend the Lock Right Locker for my Jeep Wrangler TJ.
